Seaphony

Seaphony is an ambitious project that aims to create the first pan-Southeast Asian orchestra comprised of ethnic minority musicians. Mai Khoi appears in Seaphony as a conductor, arranger and singer. The first year of the project saw a total of four months of full-time casting and rehearsals across Vietnam from which a total of 50 musicians were selected. This culminated in a performance at the Hanoi Opera House on December 12, 2017. Ethnic groups represented include Tay, Lao, Co Ho, H'mong, Thai, Cham, Ede, Gia Rai, Xe Dang, Kho Mu, and Nung. Bridging cultural and linguistic barriers is a key challenge facing the orchestra. From 2018, musicians from ethnic minority groups across the greater Southeast Asian region will be invited to participate in the project. Seaphony is being produced by Lune Productions.
